So long Madrid 😒

Although we were about to head to another exciting city, it was sad to leave Madrid.  The people, places and adventures were amazing.  And, this boutique hotel and all it offered was first class.

42 was my high school and college basketball number.  Good things keep popping up with the number 42!

This was a window in our suite.  They opened to the fresh air and could close at night to block the light in the morning.

Still can’t believe how “cool”
This hotel was.

But, Barcelona is calling our name!

We took a high speed train with first class seats (we learned to do this in Italy!) from Madrid to Barcelona.  At 288km per hour, we arrived in 2h and 10 min.  Don’t I wish the US had such an inexpensive and convenient way to travel across the county!

Love how the high speed train center has green space!

Outside facade of the train station.

We had a driver meet us at the train station and off we went to Hotel Ohla Barcelona.  My goodness!  Another super cool boutique hotel!  74 rooms featuring a sexy AF shower in the middle of the room!   Oooo la la

Inside of our room:

Once settled in our room, we headed out to explore the city.  So much to see, so little time.  Random Barcelona photo dump:

It was clear to us that Barcelona was far more touristy than Madrid with crass tshirts, thongs and souvenir stores one after the other.  This city seemed like a diverse melting pot; much more so than Madrid.

This is probably be one of the most Instagram able pics in all of Barcelona.  The lines to get a pic were long and slow as each couple needed the “perfect kiss”πŸ’‹

The pace is the trip was catching up to us so we decided to eat at the rooftop bar located on the 8th floor of our hotel.  The food, views and company did not disappoint.  This was a much needed and relaxing evening. Just a perfect place to recharge our batteries and enjoy the sites and sounds of the city.

Absolutely stunning views of the city.

I can’t say I’ve ever seen a bachelorette party that included mostly blonde women wearing white.  There’s a first for everything!  They were certainly having a grand time.

We took a nightcap back to the room and looked out at the view from our room.  An excellent first day in Barcelona.  News to get to bed early as we have a full day of biking 🚴 tomorrow.  Ought to be interesting biking in a city that busting at the seams with people!
