Fairbanks

 

I’m envious that my husband can sleep 💤 anywhere anytime. Flight ✈️ from Seattle to Alaska.  It amazes me that men sleep with their hands in their crotch.  Do they think someone is going to steal it? 

We arrived and are no worse for the wear.  Crazy that it’s nearly 9:30pm and still so light out.

I wear my sunglasses at night….

 Fairbanks makes Bangor look like a happenin’ place. We were starving when we arrived so we hurried to the pub to grab a bite.  Peeps are super friendly but the 70’s called and they want their decor back.  And, i think my french dip could have been Rudolph; just sayin.  

Woke up early the next day to get my work out 🏋️ in   I have to laugh-when i travel, I get the most out of my clothes   I wore these yesterday and now I’m working out in them and will retire them until they see soap and water!

Headed out on foot to check out the “downtown”   First stop fairbanks visitor center and museum.


You probably can read this but the sign is asking how many miles between mainland Russia and mainland Alaska?  Answer? 53.9 miles.  I’m not gonna lie, being that close to that freak Putin makes my skin crawl.

Museums make me hungry.  Off to a local brewery, Latitude 65.  We bought some delish sandwiches and heading over to the pub.  The coffee vanilla stout was delish!  Thought i had a photo of the group but I can’t find it!  With a full belly, we head to check out an art gallery and local murals. 









A little respite and then off to dinner!  What is it about vacation that we’re always eating!  I found a delightful Latin American spot where the chef and dishwasher(yep, you heard me) also entertained us.  It was truly a wonderful experience!

Well, Fairbanks, peace out.  

Had a great time but looking forward to a room with a view and not from the 70’s!  Gotta say when I read the name of our suite and  saw the condition of our room, I thought “yeah, they appropriately named this crappy room cause we surely will not forget it!” Then, I remembered!  The state flower you wonder? FORGET ME NOTS.  Oopsie.

  When you're a female, going on vacation is an event.  Your face needs to be in tip top shape, your hair needs a dye job and refresh and your toes need to be pretty.  You’d think we were going on an island vacation where all these body parts would be on view for the world.   Me? Chicago to Seattle

  Welcome to the windy city.   We land nearly 40 minutes early and immediately i know there has to be a trick.  Well, of course there is.  I do believe we landed in Missouri and we are taxiing to Chicago.  We literally were moving for over 30 minutes (que the same screaming kid who is now shirtless and shoeless).   We finally arrive.  Need food!   But, wine first.   Head to the American Club and what do i see?  “Nuts on Clark”.  Well, I do love me some nuts (hehe) and my friend Sarah has the same last name so i feel compelled to drop $22 on 2 ridiculously small bag of nuts but they are admittedly, tasty.   Flight ✈️ is on time.  What?!   Say it isn't so.  First class Bill says.  Happy wife.  Happy Life.  Seattle here we come! Despite the hour (midnight for us), the arrival into Seattle was stunning.  Mount Rainer and all her glory.  Rarely am i speechless (just ask Bill) but i was in awe ...
